Throwback Photo Gallery: Football 2004 IHSA Class 2A Second round, Newman Central Catholic vs. North Boone H.S.
Going through the archive I stumbled across another gallery from back in the day that was up at one point back in the mid-2000s, but never got re-uploaded when I made the switch.
North Boone finished the season 9-0 and was the #1 seed out of 8 teams. They had finished each of their previous 3 season either undefeated or with a single loss, only to lose in the first or second round. A 14-13 first round win over 5-4 Morrison showed either Morrison was a tough-four loss team or the Vikings weren’t ready to go deep in the playoffs. Unfortunately a stacked northern half of the bracket was filled with 9-0 or 8-1 teams.
Their second round game would be against eventual state champs Newman Central Catholic. Newman score on their first five possessions setting up a 35-0 halftime lead before winning 44-8.
