it feels like this game is still being played and in just seconds you’ll hear the roar of the crowd, but you don’t know from which side that roar will come from.
While 2020 and Covid had made empty stadiums common place, the reason there were no fans allowed at the Simeon vs Phillips game was for a more immediate safety concern.
As if the specter of a winless season wasn’t enough, a dreary fog set a somber mood in as two football teams took the field for their last chance at winning.
One of the last years I was sent out to cover a lot of community events. High school sports as always has a big showing in my best of the year.
On September 11th, 2001, I was just 2 years out of photo school, pretty much only shooting sports, and I don’t have a single picture from that day. However with the 11th being a Tuesday, that meant Friday night was only 3 days away. So as I headed off to shoot high school football, the events of earlier in the week were heavily on my mind.
