On Assignment: Pritzker Pavilion Side Project

While on assignment, I often give myself a mini-assignment.

On some assignments there can be a lot of downtime between photos. Yesterday I found myself at a classical music concert outdoors at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. While these open air events can often be a little more laid back, as someone who has been to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra quite a bit, I know the stares one will get from the crowd is enough to rival Superman.

My assignment from the Chicago Tribune was to photograph Rachel Barton Pine as she played with the Grant Park Festival Orchestra. I’ll make sure to add a link here when the photos from that story go live. So, as I was waiting between songs to move to a different position, I gave myself a secondary assignment; photograph the pavilion without the orchestra in the photo.

Here’s a few I did, hope you enjoy.
