Since SCOTUS Put Abortion Rights To The State Level, I’ve Been Assigned To Cover More Pro & Against Abortion Rallies. Here’s Some Recent Images From Them.
A March for Life rally at Federal Plaza in Chicago’s downtown took place on a July 9th, which was a Saturday. It was met with a competing rally of pro-abortion activists directly across the street. Despited some heated tempers and shout over bullhorns, the two side did not clash in any physical way.
This assignment was for the Chicago Tribune and ended up getting some really nice photo-play in the print version, as two of the images that were used showed a physical divide between the groups as well as their ideological ones. I wish I could claim credit for lining up both sides and on their respective right & left political views, but sometimes serendipity waves her magic wand and give you photo magic.
Late June a day or two after the larger abortion rights protests were held, Xinhua asked me to capture a pro abortion rally and march that started at Federal Plaza.
A much smaller crowd than those that had gather just gathered days before, these activists made their way around The Loop and around Millennium Park.
