Pointing the Finger at The Foo Fighters (Soldier Field, Chicago 2026)

As I’ve said in a few other posts, photographing concerts doesn’t make you a good photographer. I don’t care how many likes or follows you get on social media. The most likely outcome if you had been doing that with small bands nobody has heard of, is about 2% of all that traffic.

I’m not hating on people who do this, but merely giving a message to the newest round of photographers coming up in the world. Don’t confuse your traffic for your talent.

I covered the Foo Fighters stop at Soldier Field in August for the Chicago Tribune. While I turned in the needed shots to the paper, I decided to do a little something extra for the blog post.

Instead of going on about how easy it is to shoot well-known artists, I put together a little collage of finder pointing. Which is something frontman Dave Grohl seems to do a lot at his shows.
